La recerca suggereix que la reactivaci\u00f3 del virus d\u2019Epstein-Barr (VEB) en aquesta regi\u00f3 podria desencadenar una resposta immunit\u00e0ria err\u00f2nia contra el sistema nervi\u00f3s central.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6>El VEB: m\u00e9s enll\u00e0 de la mononucleosi<\/h6>\n<p>El VEB \u00e9s un virus molt com\u00fa que infecta m\u00e9s del 90 % de la poblaci\u00f3 mundial. Tot i que \u00e9s conegut principalment per provocar la mononucleosi infecciosa, estudis recents han establert una relaci\u00f3 entre aquest virus i diverses malalties autoimmunit\u00e0ries, entre les quals destaca l\u2019EM. Investigacions pr\u00e8vies han demostrat que la infecci\u00f3 pel VEB \u00e9s una condici\u00f3 necess\u00e0ria per al desenvolupament de l\u2019EM, tot i que no \u00e9s suficient per si sola.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6>Ganglis limf\u00e0tics cervicals: l\u2019epicentre del desencadenament<\/h6>\n<p>Els ganglis limf\u00e0tics cervicals profunds, situats al coll, tenen un paper clau en la resposta immunit\u00e0ria. L\u2019estudi liderat per la doctora Sini Laakso, de la Universitat de H\u00e8lsinki, ha revelat que, en pacients amb EM, aquests ganglis presenten alteracions en les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules B similars a les que es troben en infeccions actives pel VEB. Aquestes c\u00e8l\u00b7lules B alterades podrien activar les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules T CD8+, que ataquen per error la mielina, la capa protectora de les neurones.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6>Principals troballes de l\u2019estudi<\/h6>\n<p>&#8211; L\u2019ADN del VEB es va detectar en el 86 % de les mostres de pacients amb EM, en comparaci\u00f3 amb nom\u00e9s el 17 % en persones sanes.<br \/>\n&#8211; Es va observar un augment del 30 % en les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules B de mem\u00f2ria, amb activitat gen\u00e8tica similar a infeccions actives pel VEB.<br \/>\n&#8211; Hi va haver una reducci\u00f3 del 40 % en les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules B del centre germinal, cosa que suggereix un proc\u00e9s de maduraci\u00f3 interromput.<br \/>\nSegons els investigadors, el VEB infectaria inicialment les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules B en els ganglis cervicals, generant c\u00e8l\u00b7lules an\u00f2males que activarien les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules T CD8+ contra el virus. Aquestes c\u00e8l\u00b7lules T acabarien atacant per error la mielina, i aquest cicle es repetiria en cada brot de l\u2019EM.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6>Implicacions i futures l\u00ednies d\u2019investigaci\u00f3<\/h6>\n<p>Tot i que l\u2019estudi es basa en una mostra petita i nom\u00e9s en pacients recentment diagnosticats, els seus resultats obren noves perspectives per a la detecci\u00f3 preco\u00e7 i el tractament de l\u2019EM. L\u2019an\u00e0lisi dels ganglis limf\u00e0tics cervicals profunds podria esdevenir un biomarcador preco\u00e7 de la malaltia.
