Dan and I always are excited to share stories about what the students from Central Michigan University’s Physical Therapy program are doing to support people within the Multiple Sclerosis community.

Let’s say the next generation of healthcare professionals is showing up in a big way this summer.
On Saturday, July 19, 2025, CMU’s Physical Therapy Student Organization will host its Conquer Multiple Sclerosis 5K Run/Walk on campus in Mount Pleasant. Register today!
Although it has been a few years since the students hosted such an event, they are revitalizing it with renewed energy and purpose.
Dan and I recently connected with Jordan Carney, one of the PT students organizing the event. Just a few words into our conversation with her, the students’ passion for this cause was clear.
“We wanted to focus our race on MS this year because it’s a diagnosis we’ll be treating as clinicians,” Jordan said. “It’s important to us that our community knows we see the need for skilled physical therapy and are committed to helping people with MS maintain the best quality of life.”
All proceeds from the race go directly to the Michigan Chapter of the National MS Society, a partnership which Jordan says is vital.
“It connects us with resources we wouldn’t get in the classroom. Staying close to the MS Society now means we’ll be better prepared and better connected when we’re practicing in the field.”
And while fundraising is part of the mission, Jordan said awareness and advocacy are just as important, adding that she and her fellow students hope the MS community sees this event as a symbol of their dedication and compassion.
Dan and I encourage you to register for and participate in this important event on July 19 because every step—whether ran, walked or rolled—is a step toward a world free of MS.
