Multiple sclerosis (MS) can be an unpredictable disease. Living with MS is different for every person and the symptoms and progression of the disease can vary widely for individuals.  

Thankfully, technology has come a long way with tools that help managing MS, and life in general, a bit easier. The following apps can help with the day-to-day tracking of symptoms, treatments, medications, organizing tasks and notes, and keeping you looped in on the latest news, advancements, and information.

Created by consumer health website Healthline, the Bezzy MS app offers one-on-one chats, group discussions for advice, support, and the opportunity to find out the latest news and research around MS. You can also joing live discussions on subjects including community, wellness, treatments, daily living, inspiration, and career.

This Android app provides a flexible logging system, making it easy to keep track of symptoms of MS and other health issues. With each entry, you can record the type and severity of the event, pain, potential triggers, treatments, and any relief provided. You can then view statistics over time and even share with health professionals if desired.

The SuperBetter app has more than 5,000 five-star reviews on the Google Play App Store. It’s fun and creative, and is powered by the Live Gamefully® method; a framework that activates the psychological strengths of game play to build resilience and success in real life. Users have the ability to create and customize quests, challenges, and power-ups (a positive action that makes you feel good such as hugging a friend going for a walk, connecting with a friend, and more).  

It’s designed for those with anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and other conditions as an aid to build resilience and achieve goals. The focus is on cultivating your inner superhero. The app was developed by Jane McGonigal author of the book SuperBetter.

Care Zone

CareZone is like having a personal health assistant in your pocket. You can take photos of your medications for an up-to-date list of dosages, schedule reminders to refill or take your medication, and even print out a schedule to share with your healthcare team. There’s a journal feature for tracking symptoms, a calendar for appointment tracking, a space to keep your insurance information, and an easy share feature to send this information out to anyone who needs access.

The MindShift ® CBT app was developed by Anxiety Canada and has specific programs for young people. It uses strategies based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help users feel better and less overwhelmed. Features include thought journals, coping cards, guided meditation, confidence-building exercises, and goal setting.
