Is AI the death of academic writing or the New Knowldege Conflicts of interests

Artificial intelligence is putting humans onto the maggots pile. I don’t know if you have had the same experience but AI has replaced customer service which is all well and dandy when the questions you have are easy but if you are having a real problem you can go round and round in circles to get nowhere as a solution. We know about the recent case of some person’s bestie being a chatbot and the sad case of where it ended for the human. I had a conversation with a chatbot the other day and it was quiet convincing….they finished by saying it was so happy that they had solved my problem when they hadn’t done a thing, but maybe it has already learned you don’t tell your boss that you are doing a shit job. It asked me two closed questions in the same sentence…was I calling because of the shit service or had they sorted the problem, but the bot never enquired about which bit of the question was the answer “yes” related to.

There is no question that a computer can interogate the literature quicker than a human could and so I guess Doctors and Scientists are becoming redundant bit my bit.

So it was of interest that in the conflicts a recent paper wrote.

Declarations. Competing interests: The authors declare no competing interests…….

Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Writing Process: During the preparation of this work, the authors used Gemini to assist with the rephrasing of complex scientific content for enhanced clarity and readability. After using this tool/service, the authors reviewed and edited the content as needed and took full responsibility for the content of the publication.

So next we get AI reviewers…And for the open access pay to publish we will get “Accept it’s great…Squeeze the money out of them:-(Maybe it was right to jump before being pushed…Maybe we could trial ChatBot week of MS in the News.
